Cleanup Event at Tom's Harbor Bridge

April 25 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Please join for our bridge cleanup, whether you can stay for the whole duration or just 15 minutes - every contribution counts towards making a positive impact on our local environment and beyond! In past cleanups, we've collected over 300 pounds of trash!

It's been a couple of years since our last bridge cleanup, apart from one earlier this year in April. For those new to this or needing a refresher: Toms Harbor Bridge is about 2 miles north (or east) of DRC. The parking lot and our base camp are at the south end of the bridge (marked in blue on the map below). If you reach Duck Key, you've gone too far and can turn around to head back to the parking lot.

The Conservation Committee will provide:

  • Gloves
  • Trash bags
  • Water cooler
  • Coastal cleanup data sheets for recording items collected (this information is shared with the Ocean Conservancy for their international database.)

What YOU should bring:

  • Reusable water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat and sunglasses
  • Closed-toed shoes (as we clean up both the bridge and the shorelines on both sides of the highway)
  • Bug spray

We'll gather for a group photo near DRC's adoption sign at 6:00 pm EST, with the bags of trash and recycling we've collected.
