Hemingway Days - Voices, Places, and Inspirations

This annual event features readings, presentations, and storytelling by literary luminaries. The evening is proceeded by a "meet the authors" reception and book signing.

Guest Authors Include:

  • "Chuck Ball, author of Hemingway’s HeistKey West Escape, and other tropical adventures, will introduce his newest work; Last Chance Key West.
  • Cristen Hemingway, daughter of founding member Lorian Hemingway, will read from her short story  The Mirage of Mario Sanchez
  • Kirk Curnutt will take a quick guided tour through the memorable novels about Key West that have shaped perceptions of the island, from obscure and pulpy stories of political intrigue to romance fiction to adventure stories. Along the way, we’ll be reintroduced to writers such as Thelma Strabel and celebrate another T.S. who’s made his mark on the island: Thomas Sanchez. No jaunt through the Conch Republic would be complete, of course, without Ernest Hemingway!
  • Brewster Chamberlin will read from his novel Peregrine’s Island, vol. 3 of The Berlin Book which takes place mainly in Key West and Manhattan.
  • Brian Gordon Sinclair will read from the Hemingway Monologues, Easter Rising: The last words of Patrick Pearse, his 100th-anniversary edition of the 1916 uprising in Dublin, Ireland, and The Home Run Kid: The true Story of Ernest Hemingway’s Baseball Team"
